Delta Sigma Chapter Of Delta Kappa Gamma International Honors Seniors & Members

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - The Delta Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society recently held its Scholarship and Induction Meeting and Dinner at Boger City Methodist Church. Hosted by the Scholarship and World Fellowship Committee, the event was a celebration of academic excellence, professional milestones, and a commitment to community service.

Dr. Rhonda Hager, the chapter president, warmly welcomed all attendees to the event. Special guests included Janie Webb, the NC DKG 1st Vice President, Glenda Foster, Susan Kuenzal, and other esteemed members of the educational community.

Janie Webb graced the gathering with words of encouragement and inspiration, setting a positive tone for the evening. She also led the invocation, reminding everyone of the importance of gratitude and unity in our pursuits.

Scholarship recipients – Raelynn Dietz, West Lincoln High School; Kaitlyn McGhee, North Lincoln High School; Mariah Hamilton, Lincolnton High School.

The evening highlighted the academic and service achievements of high school seniors who aspire to be teachers. Each received scholarships from the Delta Sigma Chapter. Raelynn Dietz from West Lincoln High School and Mariah Hamilton from Lincolnton High School were recognized for their academic excellence and commitment to community service. Kaitlyn McGhee from North Lincoln High School was awarded the Annette Geymont Memorial Scholarship. Annette Geymont was a dedicated teacher and charter member of Delta Sigma. 

Rylee Burchfield, North Lincoln High School, received the Delta Sigma Beginning Educator Excelling Award.

Additionally, Rylee Burchfield from North Lincoln High School received the prestigious Beginning Educator Excelling Award. This award recognizes the outstanding beginning teacher in Lincoln County Schools. Furthermore, Dr. Rhonda Hager was honored with the Professional Development Award, acknowledging her dedication to continuous growth and learning.

The Delta Sigma Chapter also took the opportunity to recognize long-standing members who have dedicated years of service to Delta Kappa Gamma. Deanna Dunn, with 25 years of membership, and Sara Miller, with an impressive 40 years of service, were acknowledged for their unwavering commitment to the organization's values and mission.

A significant moment of the evening was the induction ceremony for new members into the Delta Sigma Chapter. Led by a group of distinguished educators, the ceremony inducted Dr. Laurie Dymes, Rachel Frye, Jennifer Queen, Shannon Ramsey, Erica Roberson, and Alysha Tench.  The welcoming ceremony symbolized a commitment to excellence in education and community engagement.

Dr. Rhonda Hager provided insights from the recent NC DKG Convention, sharing highlights of workshops, banquets, and recognitions. The chapter also discussed updates to standing rules and future initiatives, including the establishment of a Forever Scholarship through the NC Education Foundation. This endeavor aims to create a lasting legacy of support for aspiring educators, ensuring access to higher education and fostering a culture of giving back to the community.

As the Delta Sigma Chapter continues its mission of promoting excellence in education and professional development, upcoming events, including executive board meetings and a summer planning session, will provide opportunities for members to collaborate and contribute to the chapter's growth and impact.

The Scholarship and Induction Meeting and Dinner was not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to educational excellence and community service that defines the Delta Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society.
