VILLA RICA, Ga. - Michael Lloyd “Doodle” Bumgarner, age 72, of Villa Rica, Georgia, formerly of Cherryville, N.C., passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Tanner Carrollton Hospital, Carrollton, Georgia.
He was born July 11, 1950 in Lincoln County, N.C. to the late Lloyd and Carolyn Newton Bumgarner.
Doodle was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and volunteered with Cherryville Golf and Country Club for nearly 20 years. He was also retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane Poston Bumgarner; sons, Tim Bumgarner, and David Bumgarner (Shannon); sister, Vicki B. Craig; grandchildren, Chris Stewart (Faith), and Kyle Bumgarner; two great-grandchildren; uncle, Olin Bumgarner (Kay); aunt, Peggy McSwain (Sherrill); and numerous cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Anthony Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Bean officiating.
His family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
