BASEBALL
The Lincolnton @ East Lincoln game was shortened to four-and-a-half innings as East got a 15-1 lead scoring all their runs in the third and fourth after going scoreless in the first two innings. Sophomore Barrett Erwin got the win for the Mustangs, pitching three innings and giving up Lincolnton's only run. He struck out one batter but walked three. Levi Clark and Carson DAhle pitched one inning each for East. Will Blackburn, who started for the Wolves, pitched two scoreless innings before, as Coach Brad Gates put it, "the wheels fell off!"
Caden Smith's sacrifice fly drove in Karson Cloninger for Lincolnton's run. Matthew Phuntek, who batted two for three, Trey Spees who went 2 for four, Michael Ross who was one for one, and Nate Borchardt each had a double for the Mustangs. Spees had three rbi's, Phuntek and Borchardt each had two, Evan Matile and Aiden Perkins each had one, and Ty Davis had one for East. Lincolnton is now 3-6 on the season. They'll play at East Burke Tuesday and at Maiden Friday night. East is 3-3; they'll visit West Iredell Tuesday and play at home against Fred T. Foard Friday evening.
SOFTBALL
Cherryville's softball team beat Lincolnton 8-2 Monday. Aiden Armstrong had a double driving in one of LHS's runs; the other rbi came on a single by Tanlee Eley. We did not get any report on Cherryville's individual statistics. LHS is now 4-5. Like the baseball team, they play at East Burke Tuesday and at Maiden Friday. Cherryville is 6-1; they play at Thomas Jefferson Tuesday and host the Gryphons on Friday.
GIRLS SOCCER
The Lincoln Charter girls soccer team lost to Christ the King 2-0 Monday. Cherryville and Hunter Huss played to a 3-3 tie.
BOYS TENNIS
The Maiden and East Lincoln boys tennis teams were scheduled to play at East Monday; we did not receive a report on the score.
