Lincolnton @ Shelby...Because of a 30% chance of rain Friday night, the game has been moved up to Thursday night at 7:30.  The Wolves won their first round game at North Surry and will visit Shelby this week in round two of the 2A playoffs. Shelby beat Mt. Pleasant 62-14.  Like the Wolves, the Golden Lions started slow and finished fast; they lost their first three games but haven't lost since.  LHS lost their first four, but the Wolves' only loss since was to unbeaten Bunker Hill, and it was close (45-37).  The game will be broadcast by WLON Radio (1050AM, 107.5FM) and online at https://1050wlon.com/. The game will also be on WOHS, Shelby (1390AM, 101.5FM) and online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/. You can also watch the game live online on KTC Broadcasting's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv681tA8LbE.

Across the state, we know of only six games that have been rescheduled for Thursday.  The only other game involving a team from our area that was rescheduled is Mountain Island Charter at Robbinsville. All others are (so far) still set for Friday night.

West Lincoln @ Monroe...the Rebels beat Chase 53-35.  This week, they travel to Monroe.  The Redhawks beat Bandys 63-13.  They've only lost one game this year--to West Charlotte 43-29 back in August.  They've averaged almost 57 points per game.  The Rebels strong suits are their running attack and defense.  They've allowed only 18 points per game in compiling a 9-2 record.  We know of no local broadcast or online play-by-play of this game, but Monroe radio station WIXE will carry the game and you'll be able to hear it online on their website (http://www.wixe.com/)[Click on LISTEN LIVE on that website].  The pre-game coverage will begin at 6:30.

North Lincoln @ Hickory...this is a rematch of a regular season game Hickory won 43-14, but nobody is expecting a blowout this time.  The Knights are much improved.  They haven't lost since that setback at Hickory and turned a 2-3 start into an 8-3 season record. They've averaged 42 points per game in their last six games and have held opponents in those games to a total of 42 points, most of which came after the outcome of the game was already certain.  Hickory is, of course, unbeaten in 11 games; and they have scored 30 points or more in all eleven.  Last week, they beat Hunter Huss 51-32.  You can hear the North game online on KTC Broadcasting's YouTube channel.  If you subscribe to nfhs.com ($10.99/month, $69.99/year) you can also watch it there.

East Lincoln @ West Henderson...the Mustangs, the defending 3A champions, have had a disappointing year.  They started off strong with dominating wins at Stuart Cramer and Forestview, but after beating Lincolnton, they lost to Hickory & Statesville, and were shut out (13-0) at North Lincoln.  They're 8-3 after a surprisingly easy win at Ledford (49-13) last week.  This week's opponent is unbeaten. The Falcons beat Erwin in round one 61-15.  They average 47 points per game and have allowed opponents more than two TDs in only one game all season.  You'll be able to watch the game online at nfhs.com if you have a subscription.  Radio station WHKP in Hendersonville will broadcast the game. You can hear their play-by-play online at https://www.whkp.com/.  Click on Listen Live.  If you have an Amazon Dot or Show, you can hear it there; just say "Alexa, play WHKP Radio."

Maiden @ Salisbury...the Blue Devils beat East Gaston 31-21 in the first round.  This week, they play at Salisbury.  The undefeated Hornets beat East Davidson 55-21 last week. It was the first time all season their defense has allowed more than two touchdowns;  in eight of their games, they held the other team to a single TD while they averaged 47 points per game.  There is no local play-by-play, but WNNC will have a reporter at the game and will update the score during their broadcast of the Bunker Hill game.

Burns @ Bunker Hill...the Bears won their 11th without a loss 61-7 over East Rutherford while the Bulldogs, the defending state 2A champs, beat Pine Lake Prep 63-34.   Burns' only losses were to Kings Mountain, Crest and Shelby.  Quarterback Ben Mauney and running back Jeremiah Norris are the stars of their potent offense.  For the Bears, QB Redek Robinson has multiple favorite receivers including Xavier McCleave; and running back Jason Willis, Jr. has run for over 1900 yards and 28 touchdowns.  The game will be broadcast on WNNC Radio, Newton (1230AM, 101.3FM) and online at https://wnncradio.com/football/.

Kings Mountain @ A.C. Reynolds...the Mountaineers defense did it again--held opponents to one touchdown (or less) for the sixth time in their 10 wins, winning 37-7 over Smoky Mountain.  The Mounties only loss was to Crest (39-14) in the only game in which they allowed more than two scores.  A.C. Reynolds is 8-3 after beating North Gaston 45-0.  While WCSL Radio is licensed to Cherryville, their FM tower is at Crowders Mountain, so they have a very strong FM signal in Kings Mountain, and they'll carry this game (1590AM, 92.9FM); you can also hear it online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/. You can also watch it on NFHS.com if you have a subscription.

Statesville @ Crest...the Chargers beat Parkwood 53-0 and will now host the Greyhounds, who are 8-3 after squeakinb by South Point 28-27 when the Raiders scored late in the game last Friday and elected to go for two extra points but didn't make it.  Their only loss since August was to unbeaten Hickory.  WOHS, Shelby (1390AM, 101.5FM) will have this game and you can hear it online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/.

Swain County at Bessemer City...the Yellow Jackets won Friday over South Stanly 52-32 and will host 10-1 Swain County this week.  The Maroon Devils beat Avery County 47-0.  Bessemer City is 6-5, but they play in a much tougher conference against teams like Shelby, Burns & East Gaston.

Mountain Island Charter @ Robbinsville (rescheduled for Thursday night)...the Raptors will visit the #1 ranked 1A team in the state, Robbinsville. The Black Knights' only loss was to a powerhouse Georgia school.
