The first part of this article was originally posted (or so I thought) on Tuesday (Sept. 12th) but although it was done correctly, it DID NOT show up on our website [I am not surprised], which I didn't notice until updating info on Thursday morning (Sept. 13th).  I apologize for the delay, but here's what I posted Tuesday:

Lincolnton beat Bunker Hill 9-0 Monday (Sept. 11th) to improve to 3-2-3 on the season and more important to win the Wolves' first Catawba Valley Conference game of the year.  LHS established a 5-0 lead in the first half and added four more goals in the second.  We'd love to tell you more, but no details were provided.

Maybe the lightning lit up the Trojans

West Lincoln held the Trojans to one goal before their game at Bandys was halted by a thunderstorm Monday afternoon.  When play resumed, Bandys struck with three more goals before halftime.  West managed a single goal late in the contest, but Bandys scored four more in the second half for an 8-1 win. The win gives the Trojans a 5-2-1 overall record and 1-0 in the CVAC.  West is 0-3-1. Freshman Edwin Ramirez scored the Rebels solo goal Monday.

[Thanks to Coach Steven Cheatham for info on the WLHS game.]

Lincoln Charter improved its Catawba Shores Conference record to 2-1 (7-2 overall) with a 7-4 win over Langtree Charter on Monday. Antoni Ceciliano scored two goals and had three assists.  James Kay, Jacob Hernandez, Cole Regdos, Marlon "Santi" Nieves and Jared Suarez-Cavillo scored the other goals.  Landry Bondi, David Pierce and Jack Gorman all had assists. Lincoln Charter is currently tied with Bradford Prep for second place in the league behind undefeated Community School of Davidson (8-0, 3-0 in conference) and Pine Lake Prep (3-0 in conference).

North Lincoln was one of four teams tied for first place in the Western Foothills Conference after the first conference games of the season on Monday.  The Knights beat Statesville 3-1 Monday as Forrest Hayes scored two goals and Bryson Banister one.  Belil Boyd contributed an assist. Goalie Drake Burgess had five saves in the shutout. North is now 3-2-1 overall.

Hickory beat East Lincoln 4-0, scoring three goals in the second half. St. Stephens beat West Iredell 4-0 and North Iredell topped Fred T. Foard 3-2 in other games Monday.

Cherryville lost its Monday game at Highland Tech 6-0.  The Ironmen are 0-5-2, still looking for their first win.

The Maiden at East Burke game was moved to Tuesday (6 PM).

WEDNESDAY SCORES

West Lincoln held Maiden to a single goal in the first half and a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Blue Devils scored three more goals in the second half for a 4-2 win Wednesday. The West goals came on a penalty kick by senior Ethan Ramirez and a free kick by senior Ford Wiley. Junior Luke Moretz continues to lead the defense in score-stopping plays and steals. He had 24 steals against the Blue Devils. Maiden is now 5-5 overall and tied with Bandys at 2-0 for the lead in the Catawba Valley Conference.

The 6-2-1 Trojans whipped East Burke 7-1 Wednesday, scoring four first half goals and three in the second.  Bandys is averaging over three goals per game; they scored 8 against West Lincoln on Monday,  10 in one of their two wins over Bessemer City.

Lincoln Charter lost its Wednesday game at Pine Lake Prep 4-0.  That makes the Eagles 7-3 for the season, 2-2 in the Catawba Shores Conference.  The PLP Pride is 4-0 in the league.

North Lincoln lost to league-leading Hickory 2-0 Wednesday. The Red Tornadoes are 2-0 in Western Foothills Conference play, 6-2-2 overall.  They and St. Stephens are tied for the top spot in the league. The Indians beat North Iredell 2-1 Wednesday to improve to 7-1-1 overall.

Sophomores Brodan Barnes and Brody Felts each had a goal and junior Zachary Hoyt scored one, too, as the East Lincoln Mustangs beat Statesville 3-0 Tuesday. Sophomore Carson Brown had an assist in the win that gives East a 3-2-2 overall record, 1-1 in the conference.
