December 2, 1959 – September 12, 2023
HICKORY, N.C. - Brian Eric Hartsoe, 63, of Hickory, passed away on September 12, 2023 at his residence.
He was born on December 2, 1959 and was the beloved son of Harrell and Patricia Cline Hartsoe of Newton.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Karla Warlick Hartsoe; and his sisters Kathryn Suzanne Turner
(Deana) of Wilmington, Del., and Jackie Johnstone of Granite Falls. He is also survived by his niece Emma
Rose (Mads); and his nephews Eli Johnstone, Michael Turner (Lisa), and Christopher Turner (Kellie).
Brian loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and had a great passion for music. To quote a dear friend, he
was a “walking musical encyclopedia”. He had a great sense of humor just like his dad and was a loyal
friend who never met a stranger. Brian loved his job at Home Depot and the friends he made there, both
customers and coworkers.
A memorial service to celebrate Brian’s life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 4 p.m. at
Bennett Funeral Service, located at 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton, NC. Rev. Ryan Brakemeyer will officiate.
The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice (3975 Robinson Rd.,
Newton, NC), the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
