IRON STATION, N.C. - Evelyn Beard Long, age 89, of Bluegrass Lane in Iron Station, died on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Alexis Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Brittain and Brother Carl Fosdick officiating.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.  The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Long was born October 26, 1933, in Catawba County, to the late Clarence and Florence Parker Beard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carroll Long; and daughter, Carol Ann Dellinger.  She worked for Lincoln County Schools.

She is survived by a son, Randall Long of Iron Station; two daughters, Sharon Williams (Robbie) of Lincolnton, and Denise Clark of Iron Station; nine grandchildren, Shannon Williams, Jason Clark, Brandy Dellinger, Shannon Posey, Josh Williams, Ashley Long, Brandon Williams, Danielle Ledford, and John Ledford; and nine great-grandchildren. 

Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Long family.
