HICKORY, N.C. - Ricky “Rick” Dale Hester, 68, of Hickory passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born May 10, 1955 in Catawba County to the late Horace Hester and Helen Caldwell Bost. Rick was a member of First United Methodist Church Hickory and retired from Regency Home Fashions in Conover.  He was a member of the Boy Scouts, Elks, LHCC and enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, and camping with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Houston Caldwell; and paternal grandmother, Flora Hester.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years Vickie Shook Hester of the home; daughter Erica Hester Boustead and husband Sean of Hickory; brother Robert Bost Jr. of Newton; sisters Becky Bost Harris of Newton, Pamela Black of Newton; and his favorite dog Tippie.

A memorial service to celebrate Rick’s life was held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Hickory. Rev. Paul Christy and Rev. Jennifer Forrester officiated. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the church columbarium. A reception was held following the service from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Community Room.
