NEWTON, N.C. - Jerry Howard Setzer, 81, of Newton died Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born December 3, 1941 he was the son of Lawrence Hubert Setzer and Carrie Killian Setzer. He was a lifelong employee of Southern Furniture in Conover and an avid race fan and competitor. He loved his family and his Beagle hunting dogs.

His wife, Tommie Lee Cope Setzer of the home; a son, Dennis Howard Setzer and wife Darla Setzer of Newton; a brother, Bobby Setzer and wife Gloria of Newton; a grandson; Brandon Setzer and wife Belinda of Conover; soon to be born, Bristol Paige Setzer and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews survive him.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, Jackie Setzer and Leonard Setzer preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at the chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Ernie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at The Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
