The West Lincoln @ Bunker Hill game has to be the 'game of the week.' The Rebels are 5-0; so is Bunker Hill. The big question for Friday night is 'can West Lincoln's defense stop the high-scoring Bears?'
Bunker Hill has scored 237 points, an average of 47 per game. West allowed 20 points in overtime to North Lincoln and 20 by Fred T. Foard--but the Tigers' scores came after the outcome of the game was already certain. They gave up 28 points to Bandys, but that's the least the offense-minded Trojans have scored in any game.
Bunker Hill's defense has allowed no more than one TD by any team except Lincolnton (they beat the Wolves 45-37).
Of course, the Rebels have also scored a lot of points (207, an average of 40 per game). They're not flashy; they almost never pass, they run the football. West can play a 'scoring contest.' They beat Bandys 36-28.
WLON Radio (1050AM, 107.5FM) will have the West Lincoln @ Bunker Hill game.
WNNC Radio (1230AM, 101.3FM) will carry the game; and you can hear it online at https://wnncradio.com/football/.

East Lincoln began the season much like their team last year that went undefeated and won the NCHSAA 3A championship. Then they lost at Hickory 49-28, and last again last week to Statesville 42-14. While West Iredell is 5-0, four of their five opponents have scored a total of only three touchdowns; they lost to winless St. Stephens 42-41 and the five teams they've played have only won a total of three games.
There won't be any radio or internet play-by-play, but if you are a subscriber ($11.99/month, $79.99/year) to NFHS Network, you can see the game there at https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/east-lincoln-high-school-denver-nc/football.
Lincolnton finally got a win last week at Newton-Conover. The game will be on KTC Broadcasting's YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRpUzsZXcswYgH89t-CePog. While the season has been disappointing, don't count the Wolves out just yet. Their only conference loss was to Bunker Hill. They host Bandys this week and they have Maiden & West Lincoln as the last two game on the regular season schedule.
Whoever wins the West Lincoln @ Bunker Hill game will be the favorite for a Catawba Valley Conference championship; but the Bears have Maiden on Oct. 13th and Bandys on Oct. 27th still to play. West--if they win--still has LHS, but they have victories over both the Blue Devils and Trojans. If they lose, they have to hope that Bandys or Maiden (or both) beat the Bears.
This week, the Blue Devils host West Caldwell.
North Lincoln plays at home this week against North Iredell. The Knights are 2-3, 0-2 in the Western Foothills Conference. The Raiders are 3-2, 2-0 in the league, but their WFAC wins were over winless Foard and St. Stephens.
Hickory visits St. Stephens this week; Newton-Conover travels to East Burke.
In Cleveland County, unbeaten Crest and Kings Mountain both play at home. The Chargers host South Point. The Red Raiders suffered a disappointing loss in overtime at Hunter Huss last week. The Crest game will be on WOHS Radio (1390AM, 101.5FM) and oniine at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/. The Forestview @ Kings Mountain game will be on WCSL Radio (1590AM, 92.9FM) and online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/.
Burns plays at Bessemer City, Shelby @ Highland Tech. The Burns game will be on KTC Broadcasting's YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRpUzsZXcswYgH89t-CePog.
East Gaston is 5-0, but the Warriors have been playing the weaker portion of their schedule. They host Thomas Jefferson this week, then play Bessemer City before traveling to Fallston to play Burns Oct. 13th.
In other Gaston County games, Ashbrook, who got their first win of the season last week, will host North Gaston; Hunter Huss visits Stuart Cramer; and Mtn. Island Charter plays at home against Winston-Salem Prep.
