Results from Tuesday's Second Primary

Voter turnout was, as expected, low; but the May 14th Second Primary--a runoff involving top candidates from the March Primary--produced Republican candidates for Lt. Governor and State Auditor.

In the Lt. Governor race, Hal Weatherman will face Democrat Rachel Hunt and Libertarian Dee Watson in the November General Election.

Dave Boliek will be the GOP candidate for State Auditor, running against Democrat Jessica Holmes and Libertarian Bob Drach.

In Gaston County, Jim Bailey beat incumbent Ronnie Worley in the race for County Commissioner from South Point Township.  Bailey got 2,338 votes to 1,393 for Worley in the unofficial count.

Republicans also chose their candidate for the 13th District Congressional seat.  Brad Knott got over 90% of the votes in Tuesday's Second Primary.  He'll face  Democrat Frank Pierce in November.

Candidates for local, regional, and statewide races were almost entirely decided in the March Primary.  In  Lincoln, Gaston, Catawba and Cleveland counties, Republican candidates who won in that election are unopposed in November.
