2024 General Election: Everything You Need to Know to Cast Your Vote
The 2024 General Election is just around the corner and Lincoln County residents need to be prepared to make their voices heard. Whether you’re checking your voter registration status, planning to vote early, or requesting an absentee ballot, here’s all the information you need to participate in this crucial election.
1. Check Your Voter Registration
Before heading to the polls, it's important to make sure your voter registration is up-to-date. You can easily verify your registration status by visiting the North Carolina State Board of Elections website. There, you’ll find a tool to check your status, confirm your polling location and review any other important details about your registration.

2. Request Absentee Voting by Mail
For those who are unable to vote in person or prefer the convenience of voting by mail, absentee ballots are a great option. Requesting an absentee ballot is simple and can be done online or by submitting a paper request form. Absentee ballots must be requested before 5:00 p.m. on October 29, 2024.
To request your absentee ballot:
- Visit the North Carolina Absentee Voting Request Portal.
- You will need a valid ID or driver's license to complete the request.
Once your absentee ballot is received, make sure to follow all instructions carefully and return it by Election Day, November 5, 2024.

3. Lincoln County Early Voting Schedule
If you prefer to vote early and avoid Election Day crowds, early voting offers a flexible option. Early voting for Lincoln County will be available from October 17 to November 2, 2024. During this period, you can register and vote at the same time using same-day registration. All you need is proof of residence (such as a driver's license or utility bill).

Hours of operation:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Sundays: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
4. Register to Vote
If you haven't registered to vote yet, there’s still time! The deadline to register in North Carolina is October 11, 2024. You can register to vote online, by mail or in person at your local election office. Don’t forget that same-day registration is also available during early voting.
To register to vote:
- Visit the North Carolina State Board of Elections website for the online registration portal or download a voter registration form to mail in.
- Registration forms must be postmarked by October 11, 2024 to be eligible for the General Election.
