Ann Stuart Davis Ford

Ann Stuart Davis Ford, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Ann was preceded in death by her daughter Jo Ann Ford, son Wynn Stuart Ford, mother Mary Stuart Davis, sister Jane “Rita” Davis Blair, aunt Carita Edwards Miller, uncle Jennings B. Edwards, and her first cousins Bob and Jim Edwards.
Ann graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1945 and received a Sociology degree at UNCC in 1969. She worked in Adult Services at Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services for over 25 years. After retirement, Ann enjoyed monthly lunches with her former co-workers. She also cherished her friendships throughout the decades with her primary school classmates. They were known as “The 9:30 Girls” since their parents made them be home by 9:30 every night. Ann and Shelley Early (the surviving members) continued their frequent conversations throughout her life.
Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton. She had fond memories of singing in the choir especially when her Aunt Carita was the choir director. Ann always remembered holding her grandmother Annie Setzer Edwards’ hand, walking up the steps of the church.
Ann was involved with the historical preservation of old Lincolnton. The restoration of the Coca-Cola wall on the side of the Setzer-Edwards building is an example of her contribution. The wall is now a popular site for pictures.
Ann was known for taking in homeless cats and dogs and was an advocate for stray and unwanted pets. After losing both of her children, Ann’s pets became a source of comfort.
Ann’s family would like to thank her Lincolnton friends for their assistance with her care and business affairs over the years, former work friends who continued to call and visit after her retirement, her friend Mark who visited regularly, and to the dedicated sitters who provided excellent care.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in honor of Ann to the pet rescue of your choice.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Hollybrook Cemetery of Lincolnton.
Arrangements are being handled by Warlick Funeral Home.
