Auton Family Reunion Is Sunday, Sept. 8
Big event a tradition for generations at McKendree Methodist

The annual Auton family reunion is coming up on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.
The place to be is McKendree Methodist Church, located at 3527 Maiden Hwy., just outside of Lincolnton.
Please bring your favorite covered dish and any old family photographs you may want to share.
The annual reunion has been a popular tradition for generations now at McKendree Methodist. Most attendees are the descendants of J.H. Auton and relatives under the Auton family tent.
And as for McKendree Methodist, its current building, locally unique in its old English style, was constructed in 1936. The church’s congregation goes back more than a century before that. Its namesake is Bishop William McKendree, an important figure in North Carolina’s Methodist churches of some two centuries ago.
