Bessie Cook Mathis
November 14, 1935 - July 22, 2024
VALE, N.C. - Bessie Cook Mathis, age 88, of Dave Peterson Lane in Vale passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Mrs. Mathis was born November 14, 1935, in Cleveland County to the late Raymond J. Cook and Blanche White Cook Wylie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Mathis, Jr.; two sons, Gary Mathis and Randy Scott Mathis; granddaughter, Kelly Mathis; four brothers, Steven, Alvin, Jim and Bobby Cook; and two sisters, Patricia C. Parker and Jeri Blume. Mrs. Mathis worked in textiles for 42 years. She enjoyed going to church and was a big following of Jimmy Swaggart.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Mathis (Janet) of Vale and Rocky Mathis (Holly) of Lincolnton; one brother, Raymond Cook, Jr. of Lincolnton; one sister, Mary Beard of Crouse; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Mathis will be held at a later date.
Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Mathis family.
