Catawba Sheriff’s Office Deputy In Crash

Non-fatal accident in Sherrill’s Ford on Sunday

SHERRILL’S FORD––A Catawba County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a non-fatal crash Sunday.

According to Master Trooper Christopher Casey of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, NCSHP personnel responded on Sept. 15 at about 4:30 p.m. to investigate a collision in Catawba County on Sherrill’s Ford Road near East Bandys Cross Road.

“A Catawba County Sheriff’s deputy (Jarrett Carl Isaac, 23), travelling north on Sherrill’s Ford Road while proceeding to a call, attempted to avoid colliding with a vehicle exiting the Dollar General parking lot,” Casey states in a Monday release. “This maneuver caused the deputy to lose control of the vehicle, causing it to cross the center line, drive off the left side of the road and strike several cars in the Goldmine Store and Grill parking lot.”

Casey adds that the investigation indicates speed was a contributing factor in the accident. The Catawba County Sherriff’s office vehicle, a 2023 Dodge “Durango,” did not have its emergency equipment activated.

Isaac sustained minor injuries. He was transported by EMS to the Catawba Valley Medical Center. An occupant of one of the struck parked vehicles received minor injuries.

“During the on-scene investigation,” Casey continues, “the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours. Possible charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office.”
