Catawba Sheriff’s Office Honors Staffers

Employee recognition ceremony held last week

NEWTON––They’re Catawba County’s finest––the members of the thin, blue line who protect and serve.

They’re the personnel of the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. And to recognize the recent accomplishments of its staffers, the sheriff’s office held an employee recognition ceremony in Newton last week. Sheriff Don Brown bestowed certificates of recognition upon many members of his staff.

Brandon Grant and Cory Reid earned intermediate certificates.

Mark Hewitt, Jr. was promoted to corporal, and Deputy Sheriff Eric Demick was promoted to investigator.

Newly hired as deputies were Timothy Reed, Caleb Travis, Marcelo Castillo, Jonathan Flores and Wyatt French.

Newly hired as detention officers were Jennifer Ogle, Adrian Whisnant, Abigail Hewitt, Ridge Burleson, Marika Hartsfield, Haylee Lamm, Alexander Smith and Ethan Harris.

Investigator Will Wilson was recognized as the Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023-24.

And Hewitt and Dep. Christian Harris were recognized as the Employees of the Year for f.y. 2023-24.

Brown extolled all of those honored.

“Congratulations to all!” he said.
