HICKORY, N.C. - Christopher Maurice Sanders of Hickory passed away peacefully at his home on July 9, 2024 at the age of 37.

Maurice was born on June 8, 1987 and was survived by his mother Anita Sanders, he completed his education from Conover School.

Maurice’s memory will be forever cherished by his mother, Anita (Tim Johnson); his grandmother (guardian/caregiver) Odessa Sanders and grandfather Robert Sims all of Hickory. Maurice was also survived by his uncle Tim Sanders (Asante); and his aunts, Iris (John) Butts, Melissa Sanders and Tina Sims all of Hickory. Maurice was also survived by his great-grandmother Isabelle Haggins; as well as several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Maurice was known for his love of music, his smooth dance moves, his heartfelt hugs and the air kisses he blew your way. Maurice will be missed dearly and he holds a special place in the hearts and lives of all of his family members.

A Celebration of Maurice’s life was held at Morning Star First Baptist Church on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 2p.m., burial followed at Southside Heights Cemetery. The family received friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
