Clara Nell Davis Cooke
January 29, 1929—July 2, 2026
VALE, N.C.—Clara Nell Davis Cooke, 97, of Vale passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Carolina Caring in Newton.
Nell was born in Lincoln County on January 29, 1929 to the late Pinkney Davis and Texie Leatherman Davis. She was retired from Overnight Sofa and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Jasper Cooke; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sheila Cook, son-in-law, Arnold Cook and daughter-in-law, Beth Cooke.
Nell is survived by her sons, Ronnie Cooke and wife, Janet of Vale and Ricky Cooke of Vale; daughter, Carolyn Cook of Vale; brother, Jerry Davis of Baton; six grandchildren, Tammy Lock, Chrystal Price, Steven Cook, Aaron Cook, Haley Stamey (Jeremi) and Eric Cooke (Courtney); five great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Price, Jaxon Stamey, Jayli Stamey, Finley Cooke and Beau Cooke and two special caregivers, Lesa Parker and Gay Stone.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Houser and Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
