CHERRYVILLE––The Cherryville Little Theatre is presenting The Little Mermaid.

According to CLT spokeswoman Sarah Sandoval, the curtain goes up for the beloved musical this Thursday at 10 a.m. for students, families and field trips, and tickets are $10 per child. Some tickets for this show are still available, but you must use the Website (see below). The show will also be performed at 7 p.m. nightly, Friday and Saturday, and again on Sunday at 3 p.m., and the regular admission of these performances is $11 each. These tickets may also be purchased via the Website or at the door.

Sandoval added that this is a live version of the popular Disney animated musical from 1989. The upcoming shows are directed by longtime CLT veteran Angie Dolan. The music is by Alan Menken; the lyrics by Howard Ashman; and the book by Doug Wright. The Little Mermaid is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

The musical is loosely based upon the 1837 short story by Hans Christian Andersen. It concerns a mermaid who falls in love with a prince.

Sandoval continued that the Cherryville Little Theatre has a lot in store in the near future.

“We are actually pretty busy right now and gearing up for an even busier season next year!” she said.

Upcoming features include the Little Sprouts Acting Classes for kids 7 to 12 years of age. And season passes are available for next season that include all the CLT main stage shows: Alice by Heart, Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr., Trail to Oregon and She Kills Monsters.

And Sandoval revealed that sponsorships are available now for people interested in supporting the theatre with their contributions to help put shows on the stage.

“We also have special events this season,” she said, “such as the improv shows that were fan favorites from last year. This year, we will also have one-day choir and karaoke musical theatre events!”
