Country Club’s Second Fundraiser Thursday
Barbecue event is a crowd-pleaser and helps a worthy cause
LINCOLNTON––The Lincoln Country Club will hold its second barbecue fundraiser Thursday (tomorrow, Oct. 10).
It will be held at the country club at noon, and it will go on as long as supplies last. According to event spokeswoman Mona Ramsey, last week’s fundraiser, benefitting flood-stricken victims in Appalachian communities, was so popular that it sold out in just an hour.
“Wow!” Ramsey enthused on Wednesday. “What a great turn-out for the Lincoln Country Club Western North Carolina Disaster Relief Barbecue Fundraiser for Hurricane Helene victims last Thursday, Oct. 3. The event was so successful that we ran out of food in the first hour! However, anyone who wanted to eat at the snack bar was also able to help at the event. We donated 20 percent of all food sales the rest of the day.
“We have an awesome community,” she continued. “Thanks to everyone who came out in support of the relief fundraiser. Because of the community support, more than $3,400 was raised, as well as additional items donated for hurricane relief. We apologize for underestimating the turn-out and will have plenty more this week! Come out Thursday, October the 10th!”
Ramsey added that the country club also extended its gratitude to the event’s main sponsors: Sun-Drop and US Foods.
“In our effort to help folks in the High Country,” she said, “our friends at US Foods and Sun-Drop are helping us with donations that make this event possible. Thanks to the awesome community support of the fundraiser last week, we were able to send a trailer full of supplies to folks in Ashe County over the weekend.”
All money collected from the event will be used to buy supplies to send to areas in need. The barbecue plates are $10 each. Customers will have their choice of pork or chicken, and each plate will also come with baked beans, slaw, a bun, cookies and a drink.
“Come out, socialize and support our friends in need!” Ramsey added.
The Lincoln Country Club is located at 2052 Country Club Road in Lincolnton.
