DALLAS, N.C. - Doyle Franklin Hensley, 76, of Dallas passed away on July 26, 2024 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Mr. Hensley was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Flossie Ann Rash Hensley of Dallas; and his sister, Kay Hensley Roberts of Alexis. Doyle was born on September 3, 1947 at his home in Dallas.

Mr. Hensley is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Swaney Hensley; his three sons, Doyle “Woody” Hensley (Tracy) of Dallas, Noah Jonathan Hensley (Heather) of Dallas and Jerry Ray Hensley (Kathy) of Dallas; three brothers, Robert "Bud" Hensley (Eunavie), Billy Hensley (Kathie), Jerry Hensley (Carolyn); sister, Teresa Moore (Ronnie); brother-in-law, Jerry Roberts; and his grandchildren, Danielle Martin (Timothy) of Gastonia, Doyle Hensley of Bessemer City, Dylan Hensley of Gastonia, Trisha Thompson (Eric) of Kings Mountain, Noah Hensley Jr. of Vale, Jessica Hensley (Stephanie) of Gastonia, Sierra Hensley (Shane) of Gastonia; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Doyle was talented in many areas, including music and building, however, he was especially talented in gardening both flowers and vegetables, and he was also a bee keeper.

Mr. Hensley served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Hornet from 1965 to 1971 and at the brown muddy waters in Vietnam.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Hardin Community Baptist Church, 528 Hardin Rd, Dallas, NC, with Pastor Justin Driver officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

The family will be at the home in Dallas for a gathering of visitors.
