Eddie Lee Willis
November 2, 1948 - September 24, 2024
CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mr. Eddie Lee Willis, 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.
Eddie was born on November 2, 1948 in Cleveland County a son of the late Leroy Willis and Inez Marie Willis. He was retired as a driver from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation in Cherryville. Eddie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville where he served as a former Sunday School teacher. He was also active with the Disaster Relief Team and Baptist Men where he enjoyed going on several mission trips to other states and locally to help others in their time of need.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ledford; a son, Solomon Willis; two sisters, Linda May and Peggy Petrea.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Brenda Powell Willis of Cherryville; a daughter, Beth Plotts and husband Tim of Asheville; two grandchildren, Brooke Weaver, Casey McDonald and husband Jon all of Asheville; two great-grandchildren, Josiah and Maryella McDonald; a brother, Larry Willis of Vale; two sisters, Katherine Burton of Vale and Carolyn Turner of Lincolnton.
The family wishes to express a special thank you the staff at Peak Resources and to Hospice of Cleveland County for the care they provided Eddie and also to the Pastor and congregation of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville for the visits, cards, love and prayers.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Huss officiating.
The family greeted friends following the service.
Burial was held at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
