NEWTON, N.C. - Edith Detter Wise, 93, passed away on October 8, 2024, at Carolina Caring, Newton.

Edith was born on January 17, 1931, in Lincoln County to the late William Guy Detter and Cora Lee Martin Detter. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale.

Preceded in death by her husband Eugene Wise; infant daughter, Helen; daughter-in-law, Becky Wise; three brothers, Hubert Detter, Grady Detter, Carroll Detter; and sister, Marie Parker.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Glenda Wise, Jimmy Wise, Dale and Mary Wise, and Dean and Katie Wise all of Vale; nine grandchildren, Shawn Duncan, Denise Heavner, Deanna Pope, Jeremy Wise, Douglas Wise, Matthew Wise, Jennifer Gibson, Johnathan Wise, and Daniel Wise; eleven great grandchildren; and caregiver, Linda Elliott.

The family received friends on Friday, October 11 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey and Rev. Harold Benfield officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.
