Eleven-Year-Old Arrested For Threats
Social-media threats involved several Gaston County schools
GASTONIA––An 11-year-old has been identified and arrested in connection with threats to several Gaston County-area schools.
In a Tuesday joint statement from Gaston County Police Department Chief Stephen Zill and GCPD Criminal Investigations Unit Sgt. J.E. Hamrick, it is revealed that during the investigation, the juvenile suspect admitted to posting social-media threats re said schools. The suspect will be charged with multiple counts of communicating threats of mass violence on educational property.
Several agencies assisted the GCPD in this investigation, including the Gaston County Schools, the Lowell and Cramerton police departments, the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
No further information will be released, due to the suspect’s age. There are no active threats at any Gaston County Schools.
