CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Holtzclaw Fortenberry, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation Center in Cherryville.

Ann was born on November 7, 1936 in Cleveland County, North Carolina a daughter of the late Willie Randall "Bill" Holtzclaw and Florence Denton Holtzclaw. She worked in housekeeping and was retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. Ann was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Fallston.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Fortenberry; a daughter Cathy Criswell and a brother, Manley Hotlzclaw.

Survivors include a sister, Ponese Holtzclaw of Cherryville; three grandchildren Emily Beam and husband Turner, Andy Eaker and wife, Heather and Devin Eaker; five great-grandchildren, Eden, Avery, Nora Ann, Cole and Madelyn.

The family received friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2024 at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston with the Rev. Kyeth Lindsey officiating.
