RANLO, N.C. – On Friday, Ranlo native Kaylyn Brown anchored the U.S. Olympic Team’s 4x400 mixed relay team that set a new world record in the semifinal heats.

Brown ran a 49.4-second anchor leg, which was just three tenths of a second off her personal best, which she set earlier this year while winning a silver medal at the NCAA Finals as a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks Track & Field team.

The relay team beat the previous world record by more than a second and finished the relay more than three seconds ahead of the second-place team, France.

Brown lives with her parents in Ranlo, having attended Brookside Elementary School and Holbrook Middle School.

The 4x400 mixed relay final is set for 2:55 p.m. eastern time on Saturday, when Brown and her teammates will have the chance to go for gold.
