GREENSBORO, N.C. – Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) is pleased to announce the following recipients who have recently received scholarship money for participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Girl Scout Gold Award projects.

During the annual G.E.O. (Girls Empowering Opportunity) event at Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro in June, $15,500 in scholarships was awarded to eight girls.

G.E.O. Girl Scouts sell 500 or more packages of cookies during the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program, and each Girl Scout Cadette, Senior and Ambassador (girls in grades 6-12) had their name entered into the scholarship drawing. This year, scholarships were awarded, along with the highest-seller scholarships. Girls include:

·         Top Cookie Seller, Kerina Salce, Troop 20024, Gaston County

·         2nd Highest Seller, Angela Nix, Troop 13050, Iredell County

·         3rd Highest Seller, Italy Cabrera-Miller, Troop 40153, Guilford County

·         Elizabeth Crook, Troop 2824, Forsyth County

·         Kelli Ashmore, Troop 2023, Burke County

·         Abigail Smith, Troop 1868, Cleveland County

·         Katilyn Blakeney, Troop 2259, Gaston County

·         Katie Dickens, Troop 13077, Randolph County

During the 2023-24 Girl Scout year, GSCP2P honored 40 girls with the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn and requires more than 80 hours of service on a sustainable and measurable project that impacts local communities and the world.

Projects this year addressed issues around environment and sustainability; education; physical health; mental health; arts, culture & heritage and more.

As part of the Girl Scout Gold Award, GSCP2P provides four scholarships each year to be used toward higher education. All GSCP2P Gold Award Girl Scouts for the year are included in a random drawing. Recipients for 2023- 24 include:

·         Brooklyn Johnson, Girl Scout Troop 1950, Greensboro

·         Carly Roberts, Girl Scout Troop 2307, Denver

·         Allison Setliff, Girl Scout Troop 2495, Winston-Salem
