Gospelfest A Big Hit In Downtown Stanley
Large crowd flocks to gospel music performers

STANLEY––Last week’s Gospelfest, part of the annual Countryfest, was a big hit in downtown Stanley.
According to the event’s master of ceremonies, gospel singer Bill Ward of Stanley, all went well. Among the performers were Adam Beard, Jett Edwards, Molded Clay, Marley Leonhardt, Josh Dawson, the Full Gospel Bluegrass Band and special guest, street preacher Ravon Nichols. North Carolina State Rep. John Torbett delivered the event’s invocation.

“Once again,” said Ward, “Gospelfest did not disappoint! Adam Beard opened the music with great renditions of favorite gospel songs. Stanley native Josh Dawson, followed by Molded Clay of Rock Hill, delivered the same spirit of worship. Ten-year-old local Marley Leonhardt, a member of Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, wowed the crowd with strong and impressive vocals, singing praise-and-worship songs.
“Next,” he continued, “the Full Gospel Bluegrass Band delivered a downhome set of gospel. And Jett Edwards wrapped the day with a Christian line dance and his ‘Stop the Killing, Start the Healing’ message.”
Ward and Nichols filled the breaks with motivational spiritual messages, updates of local hurricane-relief opportunities and friendly banter with the crowd.
