It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our sister and aunt, Helen Elizabeth Huffman Wallace, who went to be with her Lord on February 27, 2025, at the age of 94 at Catawba Valley Living at Rock Barn.

 Helen was the second daughter born November 18, 1930 in Catawba County to the late Russell Eugene and Annie Hedrick Huffman. Helen was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Dorcus Society in her younger years. She enjoyed being a part of the Wednesday Morning Bible Class at Bethel Lutheran Church, Friday Morning Bible Study and the Golden Agers at St Peter's Lutheran Church. She was a member of the graduating class of 1949 at Oxford High School and was on the women's basketball team. Upon graduation, she entered the work force and spent her working years in textiles and furniture, retiring from Conover Chair in December 1998, but continued to work part-time until September 2007.

 Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Lois Daniels, her brother Jack Huffman, her ex-husband Kivette Wallace and longtime companion, Robert Sherrill.

 She is survived by her sister M. Belle Bryant of Claremont. Nieces, Brenda (Gary) Daniels of Moravian Falls, Audrey (Eric)Hauss of Claremont, Melinda Reavis of North Wilkesboro, Rebecca (Don)Phillips of McClellanville, South Carolina, and Nephew Wayne Bryant of Taylorsville. Great Nieces and Great Nephews, Tamara (Tom) Koch of Boomer, Anna (Steve) Slotchiver of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, Ada (Casey) Iversen of Taylorsville, Russell (Justin Strickland) Rockett of Wake Forest, Sarah (Prezemic Rzeszowski) Phillips of North Charleston, South Carolina, Emily (Andrew) Wyatt of McClellanville, South Carolina. Molly (Grant Wactor) Phillips, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Andrew (Savannah) Reavis of Claremont and Graham Hauss of Fort Mill,, South Carolina. Great-great nieces and nephews, Callie Iversen(Lawson Hicks) and Grace Iversen of Taylorsville, Sophie Kate Slotchiver of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, Eleanor Ruth Wyatt and James Wyatt of McClellanville, South Carolina and Bryson Holder and Haleigh Reavis of Claremont and Taylor Koch and Thomas Koch of Boomer. Having no children, she loved her nieces and nephews as her own.

 After full retirement she and her sister, Belle, spent many days visiting family in Wilkesboro and Taylorsville. She spent many vacations at the beach with the Phillips and loved to visit family in Charleston, South Carolina. Memorials may be made to her church, Bethel Lutheran, of Claremont.

 A service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Sunday, March 2 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5759 Bolick Rd., Claremont. Pastor Eric Hollar and Pastor Eric Hauss will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church. Those serving as pallbearers are Tom Koch, Casey Iversen, Russell Rockett, Graham Hauss, Thomas Koch, Justin Strickland, Andrew Wyatt and Andrew Reavis.
