Hudson Man Dies In Sunday Collision

Randy Allen McGuire was 57

HUDSON––A pedestrian was struck and killed in a collision in Caldwell County on Sunday night.

According to Master Trooper Christopher Casey of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in a Sunday statement, it was about 9 p.m. that night when NCSHP personnel responded to and investigated the incident on US-321 near Mission Road.  A 2015 Chevrolet “Cruze” was travelling south on US-321 and struck a pedestrian walking southbound in the roadway.

The pedestrian, identified as Randy Allen McGuire, 57, of Hudson, was wearing dark clothing, and the roadway was not lighted. McGuire succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Cruze was not injured, as Casey informs.

“The initial investigation does not indicate impairment or speed to be contributing factors,” he adds. “During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for several hours. No charges will be filed in this case.”
