Judy Ellen Harkey Buff
January 26, 1948 - February 4, 2026
Judy Ellen Harkey Buff, 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at her home.
Judy was born on January 26, 1948 in Lincoln County, and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Harkey and Margaret Lee Eurey Harkey. She retired from Love Memorial Elementary School after twenty plus years of service. She was a member of Rhyne Heights Methodist Church where she was also a member of the Methodist Women. She was a two-time breast cancer survivor and worked with Relay for Life Lincoln County for many years. Though what brought her the most joy was being a wife, mother and beloved grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Jack Glenn Buff; four children, Jennifer McDonald and husband Michael of Blacksburg, Va., Michael Buff and wife Crystal of Greer, S.C., Melissa Darling and husband Mike of Granite Falls and Richard Buff and wife Brittany; three brothers, Tim Harkey and wife Rosanne of Lincolnton, Bobby Harkey and wife Cecilia of Iron Station, and Jim Harkey and wife Kathy of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren, Dylan McDonald, Allie McDonald, Charlotte Buff, Caroline Buff, Nolan Darling, Adalynn Darling, Pate Leatherman, Max Buff, and Lennon Buff.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. at Rhyne Heights Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Rhyne Heights Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Griffin and Rev. Jeremy Teague officiating.
A committal service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Hollybrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Relay for Life Lincoln & Gaston Counties or to The Alzheimer's Association.
