Singer Katie Pinder Brown will perform as Carole King in her tribute concert, Natural Woman, Sept. 20.
The place to be that Friday evening at 7:30 is the First Assembly Church, located at 777 S. Myrtle School Road in Gastonia, according to Tony Giacobbe. A spokesman for the Gaston Concert Association, Giacobbe told The Herald more Saturday. He explained that Brown’s concert will kick off the GCA’s soon-starting 2024-25 season.
Natural Woman is the premier tribute to King, the legendary singer/songwriter. Brown plays and sings the beloved songs that defined a generation. The same music that electrifies the smash Broadway musical, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, will delight Natural Woman audiences as if they were guests in King’s living room.
These are all the classic favorites you’ve loved since the ’60’s and ’70’s: the groundbreaking Brill Building chart-topping pop hits conceived in a tiny Times Square cubicle; the timeless tunes you know by heart but possibly never knew that King created. And of course, you’ll hear the masterpieces from the record-shattering album, Tapestry, the emblem of the singer/songwriter era that solidified King’s position as a trailblazing woman to watch and hear.
You’ll experience the thrill of being transported back in time by the authentic raw vocal purity, dynamic soulful piano and genuine audience connection of a truly polished and emotionally intimate performance. With the power of a musical heroine and the relatability of a friend, Brown’s Natural Woman will bring the warmth and strength of King’s compositions to life and the crowd members to their feet, dancing in the aisles and singing and clapping along to these musical treasures.
Tickets are $30 each. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show follows half an hour later. See the Website at www.gastonconcerts.org to purchase tickets.
