The YMCA of Catawba Valley is thrilled to announce the integration of Lincoln County Family YMCA and Sally's YMCA into our family. This exciting expansion marks a significant milestone in our mission to strengthen community ties and promote healthy living across the Catawba Valley region. According to Eric Levin, Chief Volunteer Officer of YMCA of Catawba Valley, “From the very beginning, we realized that more connects us than separates us, and we look forward to building on the legacy that many others have already established.”
Over the last year, volunteer leaders and staff were assembled to conduct thorough due diligence for the partnership between the YMCA of Catawba Valley and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Appointed by the Board of Directors in 2023, these members diligently investigated the feasibility of transitioning two YMCA facilities—Lincoln County Family YMCA and Sally's YMCA—and multiple Lincoln County Schools sites that offer enriching after-school programming to the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
The impact of their work was profound, as their focus on governance, risk management, contractual agreements, financing, and personnel considerations was crucial in enhancing the YMCA's ability to serve the community effectively. Eric Levin stated, “As our transition evolved, working with Charlotte YMCAs, YMCA of USA, and various other partners gave us great confidence, counsel, and leadership to move forward. We are proud of the foundation provided by the many volunteers and the Charlotte YMCA, decades in the making. It is an honor to be in this position.”
Lincoln County Family YMCA, since 2001, and Sally’s YMCA, since 2011, have been pillars in the community, providing programs and services in the areas of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. These YMCAs offer a full range of programs serving all ages, from half-day preschool to Rock Steady for Parkinson’s Disease. Swim lessons are available at each YMCA branch, along with individual and partner personal training. Group exercise classes are included in each membership, with access to additional classes throughout the YMCA of Catawba Valley association. Both Lincoln County Family YMCA and Sally’s YMCA are committed to making every member feel cherished and valued, promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Feedback from members has been positive, as the programs and services have remained consistent at the YMCA branches. We warmly welcome staff, members, and the Lincoln County community to continue experiencing these impactful programs and services.
Together, all of our YMCAs will create an inclusive environment, fostering a sense of unity throughout the surrounding counties and a shared purpose that will benefit the entire region. The impact that these two YMCA branches have on their community reaches far beyond their walls. As the YMCA of Catawba Valley moves forward, we are appreciative of the opportunity to invest our time and services in Lincoln County, furthering the profound impact and strong legacy established in the area.
This addition brings a wave of excitement and optimism among the staff and community by enhancing the YMCA's mission of fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA of Catawba Valley is pleased to welcome Lincoln County Family YMCA and Sally’s YMCA to our family!
We extend an invitation to visit our facilities, meet our friendly staff, and explore the numerous benefits of being part of the YMCA family at Lincoln County Family YMCA and Sally’s YMCA. Please stop by either Sally’s YMCA or Lincoln County Family YMCA for a tour.
