Lincoln County Honors Veterans Through Operation Green Light

Veteran Services receives the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners proclamation for Operation Green Light.

LINCOLNTON, N.C.— On Monday, Nov. 2 the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners formally proclaimed Nov. 4-11 for the county's participation in Operation Green Light a nationwide effort uniting counties to support military veterans.

Operation Green Light’s mission is to show support for military veterans. The nationwide initiative by counties, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers raises awareness around the challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.

Key county buildings and infrastructure will be illuminated with green lighting through Veterans Day.

Lincoln County encourages its citizens to recognize the importance of honoring all those who made immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom by displaying a green light in a window of their place of business or residence. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.

The resolution also encourages the community to utilize and promote the services of local support systems, including Lincoln County Veterans Services. Operation Green Light is a meaningful way to remind the veterans in Lincoln County that their service and sacrifices are appreciated and never forgotten. Our Veteran Services Office is here to help veterans and their families receive the benefits and services they have earned,
