LINCOLNTON, N.C.— Lincoln County Schools had plenty to celebrate this past week, with achievements ranging from championship victories and outstanding school leadership to student safety education and innovative classroom programs.
Principal of the Year: Congratulations to Lincolnton High School Principal Kristie Ballard, who was named Lincoln County Schools Principal of the Year. Ballard received a special surprise visit from her family and district office staff as the honor was announced.
Athletic Championships: Three Lincoln County teams brought home championship titles. The East Lincoln Middle School boys' soccer team captured the Tri-County Championship on October 8 with a victory over rival North Lincoln Middle School.
The West Lincoln Middle School softball team also claimed the Tri-County Championship on October 8, defeating R-S Middle School 11-3.
At the high school level, the East Lincoln High School women's golf team earned the 4A/5A Western Foothills Athletic Conference Championship.
Teaching Children About Safety: First graders from across Lincoln County participated in the annual PACTS (Protecting All Children Through Safety) event at Betty Ross Park. Students learned valuable lessons about fire, gun, medication and water safety, along with social-emotional safety and bullying prevention.
The event was made possible through a community partnership involving local fire departments, law enforcement, the Sheriff's Office, EMS, Parks and Recreation, Child Advocacy and the Health Department.
Students Serving Staff: East Lincoln Middle School's "Just Wingin' It" club is giving students an opportunity to develop communication, teamwork and life skills. Students from the school's Extended Content class operate a snack and beverage service for staff twice a week, incorporating Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) into their activities.
Report Card Reminder: Lincoln County Schools reminds parents that report cards will be sent home Monday, October 19.
Congratulations to all the students, educators, coaches and community partners helping make Lincoln County Schools a place of achievement and opportunity!
