Magdalena “Leni” Sahamel Smith
July 16, 1938 - October 23, 2026
LINCOLNTON, N.C.—Magdalena “Leni” Sahamel Smith, age 88, of Smith Family Lane in Lincolnton peacefully passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026.
Born July 16,1938, in Voćin, Croatia to the late Johann and Elisabeth Lamp Sahamel. She was raised in Germany where she met her beloved husband Lewis Eddie Smith.
Leni was a hair stylist and the owner of Ruth’s Beauty Shop in Lincolnton. She was a graduate of Southeastern Cosmetology of Charlotte. Her life's passions were her family, career, customers, cooking and gardening.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Lewis Eddie Smith of the home; daughter, Anita Killian (Mark) of Lincolnton; son, Johnny Smith ( Leslie) of Denver; grandchildren , Nicholas Williams, Samuel Williams (Alexah), Kelsey Bullock (Paul), Kaleigh Webb ( Austin); two great-grandsons; and sisters, Else Schmeisl and Hedwig Stehle both of Germany. She is predeceased by her sister, Marianne Danese.
The celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Asbury Methodist Church in Lincolnton, with the Reverend Natalie Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service.
