CATAWBA, N.C. - Maggie Mason Wilfong, 82, of Catawba, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at her residence.

She was born October 13, 1941 in Iredell County to the late Ernest and Lelia Newton Mason. Maggie was a member of Catawba Missionary Baptist Church and was a woman of many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, embroidery, crafts, fishing, auto mechanics, seek-n-find books, puzzles, thrifting, and being a caregiver. Maggie especially loved spending time with her family and attending church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lewis; brothers, Charlie (CH), Clarence, Ernest, Lester, Roy, Clifford, and Robert; sister, Missouri Mayfield; and grandson, Antonio Wilfong.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Myra Wilfong Igbeare of Baltimore, Md., Tonya Wilfong of Catawba, Sherine Wilfong Hall of Greensboro; brother John Mason of Baltimore, Md.; brothers-in-law Harold Wilfong and wife Alice of Hickory, Bill Wilfong of Catawba; sisters-in-law Mary Lois Mason of Newton, Mary Love Mason of Catawba, Jill Wilfong of Hickory, Joyce Surratt of Hickory; grandchildren Antoinette, Anthony, Jordan, Noah, Ainsley, and Tevin; great-grandchildren Tavry and Dallas; special friends Barbara Chacon and Mary (Poppins) Warzbok.

A homegoing service to celebrate Maggie’s life was held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Pastor Joe Shuford officiated. The family received friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service.
