The following is the candidate's response, written in his own words:

I’m George "Chip" Sain, a conservative Republican candidate proudly endorsed by the Republican Party for the position of Lincoln County Soil and Water Supervisor. As a lifelong resident of Vale, I am deeply connected to both the land and the community. My extensive experience in farming, raising cattle and managing my own farm has provided me with invaluable, firsthand knowledge of agriculture. In addition to my agricultural background, I bring professional expertise as an accountant and the honor of having served as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

I graduated from West Lincoln High School and earned a Business Administration degree from Appalachian State University. My faith plays a vital role in my life and my family and I are active members of New Day Ministries in Lincolnton, NC. As a husband and father of two, I am committed to family values and believe in straightforward, honest leadership. I am deeply passionate about conserving the land and resources that make Lincoln County a great place to live and I look forward to the opportunity to serve our community in this important role.

1. What key issues are you prioritizing and what steps are you taking to address them?

My top priority is ensuring the sustainable management of our soil and water resources. As a farmer, I understand firsthand the challenges we face when it comes to soil conservation and water quality. I will work to promote responsible land-use practices that preserve our natural resources for future generations while supporting the agricultural community. I'll collaborate with local farmers, builders, conservation experts and government officials to ensure that our policies reflect both environmental stewardship and economic growth.

2. How does your background, values, education and experience prepare you to represent the community effectively?

I bring a unique combination of practical farming experience, business acumen and military discipline. My time as a Marine taught me the importance of leadership and service, while my career as an accountant has given me the tools to manage budgets and projects efficiently. My deep roots in the community, along with my commitment to faith and family, mean that I am dedicated to the well-being of our area. I understand the concerns of both landowners and local businesses and I’m equipped to find solutions that benefit everyone.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this position and how do you differentiate yourself from your opponents?

What sets me apart is my hands-on experience with farming and land management, combined with my professional skills as an accountant and my military background. I have a proven track record of hard work and honesty and I’m not afraid to make tough decisions when it comes to protecting our resources. I am deeply committed to my values and leading by example, which guides me in serving the community with integrity. My candid, no-nonsense approach ensures that I will always be transparent with the people I serve.

4. What long-term goals do you hope to achieve if elected to office?

If elected, my long-term goal is to build a sustainable future for Lincoln County by promoting responsible land and water conservation practices. I aim to create partnerships with local farmers, businesses and conservationists to improve our infrastructure and implement programs that will protect our environment while also ensuring that agriculture continues to thrive. I also want to increase awareness of the many cost share programs of soil and water conservation among residents and make sure they are available, transparent and that our policies are forward-thinking.   I want to protect our resources for generations to come.

Voters should choose me because I am both a farmer and a professional who understands the critical balance between economic success and environmental stewardship. I have the experience, knowledge and dedication needed to make informed decisions that will benefit our community as a whole. My values, honesty and willingness to roll up my sleeves and get the job done make me the right person for this role. I will always prioritize the best interests of Lincoln County’s citizens and its natural resources. Together, we can create a better future for our county.
