Mickey Dean Brown
September 5, 1949 - October 4, 2024
VALE, N.C. - Mr. Mickey Dean Brown, 75, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Atrium Health - Lincoln.
Mickey was born on September 5, 1949 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina a son of the late Garland Odell Brown and Desmer Wright Brown. He was retired from Blackwelder Textiles in Cherryville. Mickey was a member of Hebron Church in Vale where he served in many capacities including, serving as a trustee and Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and the Methodist men. He and his wife also enjoyed attending Bess Chapel Church in Cherryville. Mickey proudly served our country in the First Calvary Division during Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Cherryville American Legion Post 100 in Cherryville and served on the Post 100 Honor Guard providing military honors at funerals to many veterans in our community.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Linda Cooper Brown of the home; a daughter, Amie Hallman and husband Jeffrey; two grandchildren, Lexzie Hallman and Zaiden Hallman; two sisters, Lucy Hartman and Rita Wilson; a brother, Randy Brown. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Hebron Church in Vale.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Hebron Church in Vale with the Rev. Paul Simpson and Mr. Steve Houser officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Mickey's friends, the Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.
