Motorcyclist Dies In Saturday Crash

Keaton Stone McGlamery, 19, thrown from bike

STATESVILLE––A Statesville man died in a Saturday morning crash in Iredell County.

According to Master Trooper Christopher Casey of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in a same-day statement, NCSHP personnel responded to and investigated the incident on NC-115 near Ella Kay Lane.

Keaton Stone McGlamery, 19, was riding a 2005 Honda motorcycle and travelling north on NC-115. He attempted to pass a 1969 Chevrolet logging truck in a no-passing zone as the truck turned left into the Progressive Power Equipment and Landscape parking lot. McGlamery struck a log extending from the back of the trailer; was thrown from the motorcycle; and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The logging truck’s driver, Floyd Eugene Osborne, 67, of Statesville, was not injured, as Casey informs.

“During the on-scene investigation, NC-115 was partially closed in the area for two hours,” he adds. “The initial investigation indicates excessive speed and improper passing to be the contributing circumstances in the collision. No charges will be filed in this case.”
