Myra “Trudie” Warren
January 21, 1943 – July 23, 2024
NEWTON, N.C. - Myra “Trudie” Warren, 81, of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 after a period of declining health.
She was born January 21, 1943 to the late William E. Seitz Sr. and Wilma Smith Seitz. A life-long Lutheran, Myra was a graduate of Bandys High School, Appalachian State Teachers College, UNC-Charlotte, and Georgia Southern University. She taught math and was a guidance counselor in North Carolina and Georgia schools. Myra was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators. She enjoyed playing handbells, and served as a faithful companion to her husband during his pastorates in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, The Rev. Carl W. Warren; a brother, Phillip Seitz; and a sister-in-law, Suzanne Warren Rolf.
She is survived by her son, Carveth Wesley Warren; her sisters, Kathy Kiser (Bryson) and Elaine Link (David); her brothers, Bill Seitz (Julia) and Clell Seitz (Rene); sister-in-law, Janie Seitz (Phillip), brother-in-law, George Rolf (Suzanne); numerous nieces and nephews; and spiritual son, Rev. Matthew Oscar Shepherd and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Myra’s life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 3 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Newton. Rev. Ken Reed, Rev. Matthew Oscar Shepherd, and Rev. Marcus Ollis will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church.
