Ralph Allen Cook
May 14, 1953 - August 15, 2024
VALE, N.C. - Ralph Allen Cook, 71, of Vale, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born in Cleveland County, on May 14, 1953, he was the son of the late Alvin Jessie Cook and Georgia Modell Bradshaw Cook. Ralph retired after 40 plus years of service with Hickory Leather and was presently working for Our House Design. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he was a deacon, choir member and Sunday School director. Ralph loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He also loved to find bargains at estate sales. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his kindness, and his ability to fix anything. It was well known that Ralph never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Shull Cook and two brothers-in-law, Keith Shull and Phil Bryson.
He is survived by his son, Wesley Cook and wife, Sarah Moore of Hickory; daughter, Whitney Woodward and husband, Travis of Vale; brother, Cecil Cook and wife Linda of Vale; sister, Linda Bryson of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Brooke Woodward, Madison Woodward, Caroline Woodward and Josephine Cook; brother-in-law, Randall Shull of Conover; sister-in-law, Kim Bowen and husband, Randy of Claremont; sister-in-law, Debbie Shull of Hickory; nieces and nephews, Adam Shull, Holly Chapman, Kyle Efird, Abbey Shull, Greg Cook, Scottie Cook, Lee Dixon and Paula Harmon.
The family received friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Allan Barlow officiating.
The burial followed the service in the church cemetery.
