Richard A. Shull
Richard A. Shull, age 79, of Crouse, passed away March 26, 2025, at Caromont Regional in Gastonia. Richard was born March 15, 1946, in Gaston County, to the late Vernon A. and Margaret Bridges Shull.
Richard attended the 1st class of Gaston College. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he devoted four years to serving his country faithfully. Richard received his bachelor’s degree in business from UNC Charlotte and was a Senior Engineer for AT&T Longlines for over 30 years. He loved animals and sports. His favorite teams were the Tar Heels and Dodgers, and he was proud to watch the Dodgers win the 2024 World Series. Richard could often be found reading, including books and newspapers. He also enjoyed crosswords, where he almost always knew the answers.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, John Shull (Lois).
Survivors include his son, John R. Shull (Adrienne C. Davis); brothers, Larry Shull (Elizabeth), Roger Shull (Vicki), and Michael Shull (Kathy); granddaughter, Paige R. Sommers; and great-grandchildren, Roscoe Sommers, Isla Sommers, Sunflower Sommers, and Riley Sampson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Todd Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
