CONOVER, N.C. - Richard Allen Ledford Sr., 74, of Conover passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his residence.

He was born January 25, 1950 in Catawba County to the late Clarence and Betty Jean Jones Ledford. Richard was of the Baptist faith and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from 3M Company in Conover.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Cochran Ledford; sister-in-law, Patricia Gail Cochran Linehan; father-in-law, Fred T. Cochran Sr. and mother-in-law, Mildred P. Cochran.

Those left to cherish his memory is his son Richard Allen Ledford Jr. and significant other Tina of Hamptonville; daughters Lori Ledford Swanner of Newton, Gina Ledford King and husband Scott of Hickory; sister Janet Ledford Langley and husband Archie of Maiden; grandchildren Chelsie Powell and husband Charles, Rachel Fox and fiancé Raymond Johnson, Devin King and fiancé Anna Parlier, Alexis King; great-grandchildren Carson Powell, Raylee Johnson, Braelyn Johnson and Wyatt Powell; aunt Patricia Jones Bumgarner; cousin Cindy Austin and husband Jimmy.

An inurnment service with military honors by AmVets Post 76 to celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 725 W. 13th St., Newton. Rev. Josh Sherfey will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
