CONOVER, N.C. - Richard “Rick” Grady Wike, 81, of Conover passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born November 16, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Grady and Fannie Little Wike. Rick was a faithful lifetime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, where he served on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. He also volunteered at Concordia Christian Day School serving in the cafeteria. Rick was a loving and faithful husband, father, and granddad. He loved family vacations at the beach, annual fishing vacations at the Outer Banks during the fall, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby “Bob” Wike and sister-in-law, Marcella Wike; son-in-law, Donald Bogert Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Cora Belle Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Jerry Miller and Harley Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years Mary Anne Carpenter Wike of the home; son Kelly Wike and wife Peggy of Conover; daughter Lisa Travis and husband Keith of Conover; grandchildren Hunter Bogert, Dalton Bogert and fiancé Savannah Henline; great-granddaughter Hazel Marie Bogert; step-grandson Maverick Foster and wife Genine; step-granddaughters Alexis Travis of Raleigh and Farah Travis of Conover; and step-great-grandson Max Foster.

A memorial service to celebrate Rick’s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Michael Geml will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church.
