Sonya Janea Coulter
Sonya Janea Coulter, 45, of Elkin passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Hugh Chatham Health in Elkin.
She was born May 7, 1979 in Catawba County to the late Willie Coulter and Wanda Gail Finger Hancock. Sonya was employed in the medical field and enjoyed fishing and watching ballgames.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Robert Hancock; grandparents, Robert and Priscilla Coulter; uncles, Johnny, Kenneth, Calvin Coulter; aunts, Trinia, Janice, Frances Coulter; cousin, Shasta Coulter Jackson.
Those left to cherish her memory are;

Mother: Wanda Gail Finger Hancock
Sister: Tina Coulter Stinson
Nephews: Anquell Stinson, Montrell Stinson, and Tayshaun Stinson

A homegoing service to celebrate Sonya’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. Cathy Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Newton. A quiet hour will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service in Newton.
