Toby Michael Richardson

VALE, N.C.—Mr. Toby Michael Richardson, 33, of Vale, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a brief period of declining health.
Born July 17, 1992, in Catawba County, Toby was the beloved son of Candice and Michael Richardson. He devoted his life to caring for others through his work as a Registered Nurse with Atrium Health Lincoln, a role that reflected his compassionate heart and steady presence.
Toby was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Max and Jorita Richardson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Michael and Candice Richardson of Vale; sister, Shaleigh Russ and husband Tyler of Vale; niece, Rhodie Russ; nephew, Huxen “Ralphy” Russ; grandparents, Lonnie and Jacqueline Reep of Vale; soulmate, Jessica Adams of Lincolnton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever carry his loving spirit in their hearts.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the home of Daren and Rena Reep, 6769 Wehunt Brown Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey officiating.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Tyler Russ, Caleb Adams, Kyle Wyatt, D.J. Dellinger, Eze Oruez, Dillon Sutton, Josh Morrison, and Frank Caldwell will be serving as pallbearers.
