Kakassy Contemporary Art Exhibition, Now – December 31: The exhibit of contemporary artwork by artist C.M. ‘Kit’ Kakassy at the Gaston County Museum of Art & History, 131 W. Crouse Fire Department Trick-Or-Treat Fun, Saturday, October 31: Come out and join in the Fun on Halloween Night. Candy will be given out in front of the “Haunted House” (no admittance) next door to the fire station from 5-9 p.m. The street will be closed off for those who want to set-up for Trunk or Treat or to listen to the music.  Plus, at the fire department they will be selling their famous Bar-B-Que Bologna Sandwich for $5. Somerset Court Halloween Porch Treats, Thursday, October 31: Come by Somerset Court of Cherryville and visit with our residents on the front porch as they pass out Halloween Treats on Thursday, October 31 from 6-8 p.m. The Assisted Living is located at 401 W. Academy St., Cherryville, NC 28021.

Crocker Special Benefit Event, Friday, November 1:  Join us for a Special Benefit Event for John “Papa: Crocker on Friday, November 1 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cherryville American Legion, 215 N Pink St, Cherryville, NC 28021. Hot dog, chips, drink and dessert by donation. This is a benefit fundraiser for “Papa” due to his stage four lung cancer. Every contribution, big or small, will help the family with their financial burdens that they have accrued from treatments, hospital stays and other expenses.

Dia de Los Muertos Celebration, Saturday, November 2: In celebration of the traditional Mexican ritual, “The Day of the Dead,” the Gaston County Art & History Museum is presenting the Dia de Los Muertos Festival Saturday, November 2 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in front of the Museum, 131 W. Main St. in Dallas. The street festival will take place outside the Museum, and the street will be closed to through-traffic.  The festival is free and open to the public. Artisans, local craft vendors, food trucks, a bounce house, a DJ, face painting, children’s activities, performances by the traditional dancers from St. Michael’s Cultural Outreach Ministry and by NC’s Queen of the Mariachi, Maria Elena Valdez. Ashe County Hurricane Relief Hot Dog Fundraiser, Wednesday, November 6: LeeBoy at 500 Lincoln County Parkway Ext., Lincolnton, NC 28092 is hosting a Hot Dog Fundraiser with proceeds benefitting Hurricane Helene Recovery in Western North Carolina. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 6 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. For $7 donation you will get two hot dogs, chips and a drink. The event is open to the community.
