HUDSON, N.C. - Diana “Beth” Kizer Haas, age 83, of Hudson passed away on July 16, 2024.

She was born in Caldwell County on October 23, 1940, to the late David A. Kizer and Opal Cline Kizer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband whom she loved dearly for over 48 years; Jerry Haas; and brother, Harold Kizer.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, David Haas and wife Andrea, Amy Emmett and husband David; grandchildren, Sarah Haas (Connor Kozin), Luke Emmett, Rachel Haas, John Emmett, and Maggie Haas; brother, Eddie Kizer and wife Hope; sister-in-law, Nancy Rivenbark and husband Johnnie; brother-in-law, Tom Haas; nephew and nieces, Richard, Emily, Martha, Ingrid, Christie, Adrianne, and Stephanie, and their families.

Beth graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years at Caldwell County Health Department and Foothills Mental Health Center. Beth had a gift for serving and advocating for others, and she devoted countless hours of compassionate care for her patients.

A faithful member of Hudson United Methodist Church, Beth was very involved in service and sang in the choir. Beth touched the lives of many people in the Hudson community, and she was well known for her generosity, always putting others first, and offering a helping hand where needed.

Beth’s greatest joy and favorite title was ‘Nanny.’ She loved creating arts and crafts with her beloved ‘grandbabies,’ teaching them to cook, and hosting epic Halloween, Fourth of July, and birthday parties. Her home was the epitome of warmth, always open to visitors and filled with laughter, the smell of coffee and blooms from her garden, seed to feed the birds, and lovingly written notes to let you know she was thinking of you. Beth enjoyed spending time with her husband in the North Carolina mountains, and many special memories were made with family and friends at their cabin, “Rooster’s Glory,” on the New River.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Beth will be held on August 10, 2024, between the hours of 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Hudson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

The family will have a private service later in the day in the mountains.

Memorials may be made to: Helping Hands Clinic, 810 Harper Avenue, Lenoir, NC 28645 or feed the birds and think of Beth.
